Smartr Contacts Beta Review

Sometimes your contact list just gets large. It happened to me and I’m still not quite sure how. You get an email here, exchange some business cards, and boom, before you know it, your contact list is overflowing with people. If you’re struggling to keep track of all your contacts and are interested in how you stay in touch with them, Xobni’s new Smartr Contacts is the app for you.

Upon opening Smartr Contacts, you’re asked to either log in or sign up. Once you’ve done that, you can move to the account linking process. Essentially, Smartr Contacts pulls contact and calendar information from your Google account, sorts everyone, adds a picture to their profile, and tries to make sense of why you’ve contacted them in the first place.

Get your update of facebook 1.7 right now

Though Facebook is widely considered to be the red-headed stepchild in the Android community now that Google has launched a social network of their own, the service continues to grow at a baffling rate, now claiming over 850 million users. Facebook’s Android application has been fairly uninspired and most updates to date have been a half-hearted attempt to mirror what was already in the iOS version. Personally, when I’ve felt the need to check what’s going on with my Facebook friends, I’ve more often be found using the mobile website rather than the Android app.

Google OS – Jelly Bean

Google has a long standing tradition of naming updated versions of their Android operating systems after desserts. This year at the Google I/O Conference, Google announced the yet to be released firmware, Ice Cream Sandwich. The upcoming OS – Ice Cream Sandwich has yet to be numbered and most probably be version 4.0. With the release date of October for Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) arriving closer, a rumour has already surfaced that the name of the OS after ICS has been leaked. In keeping with tradition, Google is apparently naming their next OS Jelly Bean.

The Best Video Converter: Xilisoft

Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate

After searching for days for a good video converter, I’ve finally found the solution. It’s called Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate. The name speaks for itself, it’s the Ultimate!

At first, I just started using their online converter – it’s free, no need for installation and it’s simple to use. But after my video projects’ file size started getting bigger, I need to get me a reliable software that not only converts videos but audio files as well. AND supports nearly all video and audio formats so I need not change converter software for every multimedia player I have.

What about Android App MobiReader Pro?

While business cards may be slowly getting phased out due to people switching to electronic forms of spreading contact information, I don’t know a single person that doesn’t have a stack of them sitting around from various people and businesses. The problem though, is what to do with them once you get them. Who has time to sit down and manually enter them into their address book? I know I don’t. MobiReader Pro is an app developed to help conquer that issue, as well as scan documents and create PDFs on the go.

This app is really easy to use. Simply choose Scan Business Card from the options carousel and snap a picture of the business card. MobiReader Pro scans the card, extracting the contact’s name, area of business, company name, phone number email address, and postal address. You can choose to save this info in your phone’s contacts, or just inside the app in the Business Card Holder. From within the application you can call the contact, view the business card image, and edit the details that were extracted. Another cool feature to the business card scanner is the inclusion of augmented reality. Choose this option and and you can see the location of the business based on the addresses of your scanned cards.

Facebook Wanted to Buy Instagram

Following a failed attempt to acquire Instagram, Facebook will roll out up to a dozen photo filters in a mobile application release, according to a report from The New York Times Bits Blog.

Several Instagram-like photo filters are ready for release, two unnamed Facebook engineers cited in the report say, but the release date is unknown at this time.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Facebook photo filters. TechCrunch reported in June that Facebook was working on a spin-off photo-sharing application for iPhone. Screenshots obtained by the blog indicated the app would have “location elements, likes and comments, multi-picture mode, filters, multi-user albums, face-tagging, and more.”
